Daniel Assetta originated the role of Luke in the original Australian premiere of the "The Gathering," a haunting psychological thriller musical by Belinda Jenkin and Willam Hannagan. Staged by the Vic Theatre Company at Melbourne's atmospheric fortyfivedownstairs, the production follows six estranged friends who reunite in an abandoned house, only to be confronted by their pasts and a supernatural presence.

As Luke, the "sassy and fearless" best friend, Assetta was widely cited as the production's primary source of momentum. Critics praised his ability to anchor the show's vocal harmonies while delivering a performance that balanced comedic energy with "natural masculine confidence". His duet, "I Miss Us," was frequently highlighted as a standout emotional anchor of the score, showcasing his ability to lead a new work with both charisma and vocal precision.
