Daniel Assetta recently starred as Benny in the concert presentation of "Happy People," a sharp and witty new musical that made its New York debut as part of the Australian Theatre Festival NYC. Staged at the renowned The Green Room 42, the production follows a fictional children’s performing group—reminiscent of global icons like The Wiggles—as they navigate the internal friction of a high-stakes 10th-anniversary tour.

Critics and audiences alike have praised Daniel’s performance, with BroadwayWorld noting that he was "perfectly cast" as the group's "boyband-wannabe." His portrayal brought a vibrant energy to the stage, blending tenor pop vocals, sharp comedic timing with a side of beatboxing.
The production was brought to life by an exceptional creative and performing team, written by Matthew Lee Robinson and Scott Morris, with music and lyrics by Robinson. Co-presented by the Australian Theatre Festival NYC, EQ Endeavours, and Rebecca Morris, the show featured Daniel leading a powerhouse ensemble of industry stars. He performed alongside Caroline O’Connor as Poppy, Ainsley Melham as Jeff, Elise McCann as Sally, MiG Ayesa as Bobby, and Heather Makalani as Sunny. Together, this ensemble captured the vibrant and bittersweet world of a children’s group facing the reality of life behind the scenes.
