Daniel was invited to perform at the prestigious New York City music festival featuring stars of the stage and screen known as ELSIE FEST on September 5, 2016. He was the only Australian artist to have performed at the event, and appeared at the Marie’s Crisis Piano Bar Stage.
ELSIE FEST is an annual event drawing in thousands of theatre fans each year and was created by Darren Criss, a multi-award winning actor known for his work on the Emmy Award-winning television series Glee, and for his Broadway roles in How To Succeed In Business and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The event is produced annually by Ricky Rollins, manager of Hyphenate Creative Management and Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway producer and Jujamcyn theatre president Jordan Roth, currently presenting many Tony Award-winning productions including Kinky Boots and Clybourne Park.
Elsie Fest’s main stage featured some of the best world-renowned performers, including Cynthia Erivo, the Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award-winning actress of Broadway’s The Color Purple; Megan Hilty, a Tony Award-nominated actress for Noises Off and 9 To 5, known for her Emmy Award-nominated performance in NBC’s Smash; Jason Robert Brown, three-time Tony Award-winning composer for The Bridges of Madison County and Parade; and songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the writers of the Broadway hit Dear Evan Hansen, winning six Tony Awards in 2017, as well as Academy and Golden Globe winners for the music in the feature film La La Land.
Daniel was featured on the Garden Stage amongst current leading actors appearing in Broadway shows such as Laura Osnes (Bandstand, Bonnie & Clyde); Drew Seely (The Little Mermaid, Jersey Boys) and Ryan Vona (Cirque du Soleil’s Paramour, Once). The 2016 Elsie Fest was one of the first events to be held in the newly built, open-air entertainment venue, the Ford Amphitheatre at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York City.
