2016 Rob Guest Endowment Gala

As the previous winner of the Rob Guest Endowment Award in 2015, Daniel was invited to be a guest artist for this prestigious concert. The Gala Concert is an annual event in Australia’s theatre calendar supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW. It was set up to honor the late world-renowned theatre actor Rob Guest OBE, a F.I.D.O.F. Award recipient in Los Angeles for his performance at the World Song Festival, known for his record 2,289 award-winning performance over seven years of the ‘Phantom’ in the Phantom of the Opera, his portrayal of ‘Jean Valjean’ in Les Miserables, and the ‘Wizard’ in the original Australian premiere of WICKED.

The Gala Concert was hosted on November 14th 2016 by leading Australian actresses Lucy Durack and Penny McNamee. Daniel performed ‘Out There’ from the musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame, amongst other guest artists on the night, including Australian recording artist Paulini Curuenavuli, who recently starred in Bodyguard The Musical and has received an Australian Aria Chart #1 for her debut album and single; and the Helpmann Award-winning Molly Barwick, Sasha Rose, Georgia Taplin and Bella Thomas, who all originated the role of Matilda in the Australian Premiere of Tim Minchin’s Broadway musical Matilda.
