Daniel Assetta is one of Australia’s leading theatre performers. Currently performing in the Australian/International tour of West Side Story alternating the role of 'Tony', Daniel has carved a very diverse and successful career throughout the years. He began his training at The Glenda Yee School of Dance and then graduated from ED5 International where he obtained his Diploma of Performing Arts. In his final year of studies, Daniel made his musical theatre debut in the 10th Anniversary Production of Wicked, touring across Australia, New Zealand and the Phillipines. Daniel is best known for his portrayal of the reimagined role of ‘Rum Tum Tugger’ in the Australian and New Zealand Tour of CATS. Further theatre credits include; 'Elder Young' in The Book of Mormon, 'The Ziegfeld Tenor' in Funny Girl, 'Luke' in the premiere of new Australian musical The Gathering, Curtains and Follies In Concert. He has had the opportunity to perform at many prestigious events including The Aria Awards, Carols in the Domain, The NSW Premier’s Gala Concert, Twisted Broadway and Guy Sebastian’s Memphis Concert.
Daniel won the prestigious Rob Guest Endowment Award in 2015, after winning The Playbill Future Prospect Award the previous year, which gave him the opportunity to perform in New York amongst Broadway stars in the renowned Elsie Fest, and in the Michael Mott & Friends concert.
Later this year, Daniel will also be starring in the new cabaret show, SIBLINGSHIP, alongside his sister Chiara, at the Hayes Theatre Co in Sydney and Chapel Off Chapel in Melbourne.
Daniel is represented by Jeep Management and is a proud member of the MEAA Actors Equity in Australia.
